Mary W. Jackson STEM Multilingual Magnet Elementary is a public school located in the underprivileged community of northwest Altadena, serving a student population with over 65% qualifying for the free/reduced lunch program. Our goal is to provide support to the school and its students, and help bridge the gap between the resources they need and the resources they have.

The school offers an innovative academic program that nurtures the communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creative skills necessary to be successful in the 21st century and places a strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering, the arts and math (STEAM).

Through participation in the Dual Language Immersion Program (DLIP), students are taught to read, write, and speak in both English and Spanish. Students are accepted through PUSD's open enrollment.

The school boasts amazing specialty programs:

  • A hands on science laboratory staffed by a full-time Science teacher.

  • The music program was amplified with the addition of a full-time Music teacher working with students in all grade levels (K-5)

  •  A partnership with the Garden School Foundation helped create a thriving community garden while also creating a cooking curriculum for all students.

  • A full-time licensed clinical social worker who supports the social and emotional wellness of our students by spearheading robust SEL initiatives.
